Concetta “Rose” (Vasile) DeFranco
Apr 9, 2018Portageville, passed away on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at her home.She was born in Portageville, on June 17, 1918, a daughter to the late Ignatio “Tom” and Grazia (Panepento) Vasile.Rose worked for the former Fillmore and Perry Knitting Mills in her younger years. Later she and her late husband (Jim) owned and operated the former Portageville Red & White store.She was a parishioner of the former Assumption Catholic Church in Portageville where she was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society. She enjoyed doing various crafts with fellow ladies at the church including crocheting and knitting, she was a great cook and loved cooking pasta for anyone and everyone, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with family, especially her grandchildren.She is survived by two children, Sandra (Hobart) Henson of Bloomington, Ill., James (Elizabeth) DeFranco of Penfield; a special niece, Kathy Garner (Clair) of Dover, Pa.; six grandchildren, Julianne Henson, Jeanette (Jeff) Collier, Andrea (John) Guarino, Pamela DeFranco, Stephanie (Mike) Shaffer and Daniel Garner; eight great-grandchildren, Jennifer, Jeff, Jared, Riley, Hobie, Nick, Joe, Cole; three great-great grandchildren, Rosie, Kane, Kynlee, and many wonderful nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.Along with her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Vincent James “Go-Go Jim” DeFranco, grandson Hobart James Henson, siblings Concetta Vasile, Joseph Vasile, Noffrey “Butch” Vasile, Salvatore Vasile, Anthony Vasile, Mary Ann Henson and Leonard Vasile, niece Rosemary Wiktorski, and nephew-in-law Clair Garner, in addition to many extended family members. Family and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, April 13 at the Eaton-Watson Funeral Home LLC, 98 North Main St. in Perry. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 14 at St. Isidore’s Catholic Parish (St. Mary’s Church) in Silver Springs.
